Fill the Box?
#Fillthebox campaign has become an annual toy and gift card drive which benefits the Child Life organizations at the two hospitals where Mighty Meredith has and continues to receive care: The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center and Boston Children's Hospital, with specific emphasis on the clinics and groups where Meredith has been a patient. Some of these include Pediatric Sedation and Infusion, Neurology, Brain Injury and Hematology.
Additional beneficiaries of this event include children whom are hospitalized during the December Holidays and don't have the opportunity to celebrate at home as well as at least one family who has fallen on hard times due to medical care.
WHY?
As an inpatient and outpatient for many of Meredith's procedures, she has benefited from the kindness of stranger's donations during a difficult visits and hospitalizations. Aligning with the mission of the MMP of being Mighty Giving, she wanted to help bring joy to those who may be in a similar situation through giving back to hospitals where she has and continues to receive care.
November 2017 - Meredith receiving medical treatment and benefiting from the generosity of strangers to make her visit more comfortable.

2018
The collective Mighty Meredith Project Second Annual Fill the Box 2018/19 campaign donated over 1,300 toys, personal care items and gift cards with a value of over $15,000 as direct result of private donations and funding from the Mighty Meredith Project, over tripling the 2017 results.
On December 24, 2018, the Mighty Meredith Project delivered 125 wrapped gifts to service children whom were hospitalized or receiving treatment on or around Christmas Day. In addition, we provided gifts and gift cards to children and families whom have fallen on financial hard times due to medical care.
We returned to The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts on January 25, 2019. On this day we delivered a record number of toys and gifts totaling 800 and $1,500.00 in gift cards, as seen here on WCVB News Channel 5. These items will be distributed across the entire hospital with a special focus on the clinics where I have received treatment through the years, inpatient floors and the entire Child Life team that will benefit the hospital for the entire year ahead.
Our final stop on February 1, 2019, brought us to Boston Children’s Hospital. This delivery was focused towards teenage patients who are hospitalized on the Neuroscience Floor and where I have been an inpatient. In total, we donated over 300 gifts, blankets and $1,000.00 in gift cards for distribution to patients and families.
2017
Across two deliveries in December 2017 and February 2018, the Mighty Meredith Project was able to fulfill part of our mission in giving back to the medical community and simply being kind. It total, over 400 gifts and gift cards have made their way to Tufts, valued at approximately $5,000 thanks to the generosity of many and direct funding from the Mighty Meredith Project.
Thank you to the North Reading Middle School for helping the MMP meet our goal, to the North Reading community for the never ending support and generosity, to my sister Catherine and Mrs. Tully’s 5th grade class at the L.D. Batchelder School for the notes of inspiration and to my friends who were kind enough to offer help, donate, wrap and deliver.
The first #Fillthebox campaign was a nothing but a HUGE huge success. We look forward to many more successful years ahead.
